Academic Excellence Coordinator/Public Ally
Whitney La joined FCE in October 2019 as the Academic Excellence Coordinator and the current AmeriCorps Public Ally for the 2019-2020 academic year. Whitney is originally from San Jose, CA and graduated from University of California, San Diego in 2018, receiving her B.A. in Ethnic Studies and BSPH in Public Health. During her undergrad, she was involved in UCSD’s OASIS Summer Bridge Program, where she facilitated an education studies discussion section and mentored incoming first year students. She was also involved in UCSD’s Cross-Cultural Center and SPACES. Prior to joining Public Allies and FCE, she worked with students from East San Jose in City Year, tutoring them in ELA/History and empowering them to build confidence in themselves. As the first in her family to graduate from college, Whitney is passionate about helping students access higher education.
