Asra Hussain joined Foundation for a College Education in January 2016. She has been working in education since 2004, during her college years at UCLA. In 2010, she left the workforce to pursue her master’s in counseling at Santa Clara University, where she began working with underrepresented populations. In 2012, Asra joined the Boys & Girls Club of the Peninsula in East Palo Alto, where she served as the College Bound Director for three years.
At FCE, Asra manages high school transition programming, working with College Bound Grade 9 and Grade 10 families. Understanding the significance of foundational skills, Asra works with her students to develop emotional intelligence and mental health awareness. In 2019, Asra secured funding to launch a middle school initiative, FCE STEAM Summer Accelerator. The program combats educational inequities in middle school, so students can start high school on-track.
