Janet Yaffa Tillman, MA

Interim Director of Programs

Janet Yaffa Tillman joined FCE as the Interim Director of Program in June 2021. A lifelong educator and champion of justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion. In other words, she is s “JEDI.” Born in Washington, DC to JEDI parents who were involved in the Civil Rights movement and fighting for racial and gender equality in their workplaces and beyond. She grew up in Framingham, MA, Milwaukee, WI and Ann Arbor, MI during her formative years. Janet has an Associate’s degree in Liberal Arts from De Anza Community College, the rest of her degrees are from Eastern Michigan University: a Bachelor’s degree in Organizational Communication & Management, a Master’s in Educational Psychology with a concentration in Personality & Development, and a Secondary Teaching certificate in Communication and English Language & Literature. Janet experienced the challenges of growing up as a typical “at risk” youth. There has been an abundance of people who participated in her life to guide her towards opportunities and success. These people are why she moves in the world with intentionality, integrity, compassion and dedication to young people and the young at heart. Outside of FCE Janet serves as the Board Chair for Soul Shoppe, a Greeter at her church, and is actively involved in the lives of her loved ones.
